Despite being released late last year in the States, this single has only appeared on the shelves over here recently as a kind of stop-gap before the new album and single (provisionally due out in August and September respectively). The song is taken from a soundtrack album of a film called People, which also includes tracks from heavyweights Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau and Vanessa Williams. But the Sounds Of Blackness cut was obviously thought of as having most commercial potential and so appears here with R&B mixes by Prof T and house reworkings by Junior Vasquez. Both sorts have their own good points, but unusually I felt more convinced by the R&B ones with the dance versions coming across as being slightly bland and not the Blackness' most successful trip to the dance floor. Still good though. The point of the song then is a call for general peace and harmony through the quite obvious fact that there's "some part of me in you" no matter what race or nationality. The lyrics that come from this are well written and thought provoking:- a major criteria of a good gospel song I think. Good song, good vocal performances.
