The performers and writers of worship music are currently consigned by record companies to one of two extremes. Either they are lauded as 'leaders' or condemned to such anonymity that you could be tempted to think computers have taken over. The front cover of this offering belongs very much to the latter category. But on the back we learn that the featured songwriter, David Baroni, is "fast emerging as a worship leader of merit and substance..., a writer of high class" and those are just a few of the accolades he has to endure. But don't be put off by the hype as the contents are worth a hearing. The music is very much of the 'easy on the ear' choir and keyboards variety with influences as diverse as Andrae Crouch and Kelly Willard. Indeed, the lady herself is one of the soloists. Four of the songs are about God being worthy of praise, whilst others feature biblical characters and their lessons for us today. But, most of the songs are not suitable for your average church music group, let alone the congregation, and lyrically are more ministry than praise. Kingsway describe it as 'enjoyable' and it is.
