This 10-piece band made up of an international and eclectic selection of members of Jubilee Church in Maidstone, Kent is gaining a reputation for their worship leading and for their songwriting and musical workshops under the auspices of the Creative Arts Academy of the Jubilee Training Centre. This debut has 12 well written and well performed songs on it, showcasing their various musical talents. Highlights include the soft rock "New Day" and the ragga vocal stylings over strong bass on "Perfect Love". The R&B/hip-hop vibe of "Size OK" also works well. But there are also some mediocre songs such as "Beautiful Saviour" which starts simply with an acoustic guitar and then has the rest of the band joining in effectively but suffers from some strained vocals. Likewise the opener "Closer Deeper Higher" has a powerful yet gentle R&B keyboard intro and some funky bass but loses it on some of the higher vocal parts. This is obviously a group of talented musicians but I get the feeling that justice hasn't been done to Stainless on this recording.
