Starflyer 59 is more of an experience than just a rock or art-pop hand. Every album displays a different side of Jason Martin's brilliance. Martin, the man responsible for it all, managed to draft the help of former Prayer Chain members Wayne Everett and Eric Campuzano. to help create the newest listening experience. 'Americana*. Starflyer 59 cut out most of the wild guitar feedback and come out with a much more straight forward, stripped down rock edge, while still holding on to the artistic mood and feel that Starflyer has received much praise for. Someone listening can almost feel they are floating through this album on an ethereal journey provided by Starflyer's musical vibe. The number of ballads has been cut back, in favour of more quick rock songs. The ballads that did make it onto "Americana" are excellent. Such as the Mazzy Star-like moans of "Help Me When You're Gone": "I'm leaving and I won't delay/Summertime and summer days/Help me when you're gone/Save your love for me only." The more rocking tracks will make you want to listen over and over again (most notably "The Boulevard"). SF59 also manage to distinguish the songs from each other better on 'Americana' than on past albums. Yet. from the opening of "The Voyager" to the ride out on "Everyone But Me", 'Americana' maintains a great flow with a strong beginning, luxuriant middle and concise finish.
