A blast of rock from Morpeth in Northumberland, a demo EP of three songs from a three piece outfit that lead worship in an event called Squashes and play their own material and covers. So what’s it like? In contact with the band I have discovered that this is old material and not where they are now. This EP is punk/rock whereas they say their new sound is nu-metal/rock. The thing that surprised me was when I checked their website that they were such a young band - Simon and Adam are 15 and Matt is 16. I feel there is a lot of energy and potential in their music. They are also opening for Yfriday in November which should give them a good experience. I have to say that there is nothing that stands out in this selection that is anything above average and lyrics are a bit hard to make out. However they say that there are new songs, with new focus and a new style on the way. I look forward to that and would advise that as long as they are true to their calling, to look out for the name of Steel Machine.
