'Vigilante Man' is the debut album from New Zealand born blues-man Steve E Wilcox. Steve has been playing and writing since the '60s, been involved with several bands and has even recently been part of the road crew of '60s icons The Zombies. This album, recorded between 2004 and 2006, shows Steve's love for gospel-tinged blues and contains covers by such blues giants as Robert Johnson, Willie Dixon, Rev Gary Davis and folk visionaries Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie. You'd think that with songs by such well known artists his three original compositions would get lost. Thankfully his skills are not just in interpreting other people's songs as old classics and self-penned songs work together. For a debut album this is an impressive feat and hopefully a second album will include more Wilcox originals. Throughout Steve's guitar work is top notch and this is an album recommended to fans of "one man and his guitar" blues.
