Steven recently picked up this year's Dove Award for Artist Of The Year which will no doubt bring forth groans from champions of cooler Christian acts. But currently there is of course a reservoir of sympathy and positive feeling in the States towards the CCM elder statesman after the tragedy that struck the Chapman home when in May 2008 his daughter was killed in a freak motor accident. But truth be told, 'This Moment', released just before his tragedy, is a fine album and a creative return to form for the not-young singer/songwriter. Both "You Are Being Loved" and "Miracle Of The Moment" (penned by Steven and the album's producer Matt Bronleewe) deserve their numerous plays on Cross Rhythms radio while his move into congregational worship territory on the song "With One Voice" co-written with Matt Redman comes off well. The song though that caught American hearts is "Cinderella" which, by a tragic coincidence, deals with the innocence of childhood. It is indeed a moving little song which will induce the same feeling in Dads that Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses" did some years back. ("It's been a long day/And there's still work to do/There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited/And I need to practise my dancing/Oh please, Daddy, please.") This special edition of 'This Moment' features five additional acoustic recordings (including one of "Cinderella"). Yep, clearly Steven's creative spark shows no sign of diminishing quite yet.
