Although not strictly speaking hardcore due to the metal influences that can be heard throughout, Florida-based outfit SWR sit closer to the edgier side of loud. There are no clean vocals in evidence and the guitars have a characteristic deadened, scratchy sound. This band sticks closely to the formula of short, abrasive tunes that are delivered with the added venom of Josh White's strangled vocals. Inventive guitar riffs can be heard, but the overall sound is driven by some aggressive drumming as on "Emptiness". The slower "Weakness" allows the band to state their Christian beliefs boldly and without following trite formulas. 'Humanity' never ventures far into the experimental and after a few tracks the material does become familiar and a little predictable. Having said that, all the tracks here are generally well played and show considerable promise. It is a pity then that the recording has lost a little energy in a muddy mix.
