This is the debut release from young Kent band Sustained. They've been together for around four years now, with a few member changes, and the time is right for their first release, recorded in Norfolk. This eight song mini-album shows much promise, particularly on "What Will Be Enough" and "Alive" which are particularly strong melodically, with memorable choruses. The music here is an amalgam of pop and alternative rock, and these ears can hear the band going for something of a Yfriday approach, with elements of the Verve shining through on some songs. The limitations of a low studio budget and the resultant lack of time to tighten things up shows up a little throughout, but as a debut release this shows promise for the future and as they develop melodically and lyrically they should certainly be a band to watch over the next few years.
