Another act with a successful album to follow up are Messrs John and Tim Foreman and their pal Chad Butler, aka Switchfoot. 'The Legend Of Chin' had its moments, although it struck me as trying to be a bit too clever. This offering is more straightforward lyrically, whilst keeping the same edgy, almost alternative, rock sound. Head re:think honcho Charlie Peacock keeps a tight reign on proceedings, and the result is excellent. Jonathan knows how to write a good song, and whilst the playing time at just over 37 minutes is a tad stingy, there is plenty here to enjoy. "Only Hope" could be an Out Of The Grey number, with an acoustic-driven waltzy arrangement; "Something More (Augustine's Confession)" is a quirky reflection on the inner turmoil that the saint experienced when he was searching for meaning in life; and the title track, which opens the album, and "Incomplete", which is track two ("Incomplete! Where will you find yourself?... 'Cause you're the missing person now.. .step outside your doubt and let yourself be found.") urge us to look beyond ourselves to God who can forgive us and renew us and make us whole. A quality album from an improving band; despite the paucity of playing time, well worth getting hold of.
