You could call Swordfish electro pop rock as it's Terry Mullans' synths which dominate the production and arrangements on 'Focus On The Truth'. Terry is also the lead singer and guitarist with the band and he's pretty good too. The two tracks "Focus" and "Wake Up" (a timely reminder urging us to get our minds and bodies focused on what God has done for us) have perky, percussive arrangements. In fact throughout the album the production is way more ambitious than you'd expect from a low-budget independent release. But there lies one of the album's problems. The variety of keys overdubs and fall-aways on quiet passages sometimes sound way too cluttered and although the lyrics indicate they're worship songs it's hard to imagine much of this material being used in many congregations. And while on the subject of the lyrics there are too many overfamiliar phrases and obvious rhymes (eg, "glorious" and "victorious") for this particular reviewer while what sounds like a children's choir on "Christmas Song" sounds like something from a completely different album. But there's no denying Terry has an excellent voice and some good melodic ideas.
