Coined Trumpet Lady on the gospel scene, Stellar-nominated US jazz musician Syreeta Thompson is used to keeping prestigious company having been mentored by the world renowned Wynton Marsalis and toured with the likes of Beyonce and Lauryn Hill. As you would expect, her second solo album - recorded live with subsequent studio overdubbing - is a trumpet-led affair although Thompson also adequately lends her vocals to a number of tracks. Unfortunately, this is a somewhat disjointed collection with the enjoyable "Praise Him" - which shows Thompson's trumpet playing in its best light - and a gospel medley of old church standards such as "To God Be The Glory" and "I Surrender All" sitting beside not one but two rounds of the insubstantial title track and an inexplicably shaky trumpet rendition of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness". Proceedings pick up near the end with "Make A Way" thanks to the appearance of Chicago-based gospel singer Dewayne Woods whose considerable vocal contribution almost saves the day.
