Another single from the three London ladies trying to reach out to the party crowd. Again, it's a case of positive message rather than straight gospel, but as the title might suggest, it has a sense of non-sexual innocence seldom found in today's pop music (or artists for that matter). "Celebration Of Life" is clearly a well executed and uplifting song that should do down just as well at a gospel dance night as at home. This is achieved in part by the different flavours of remix available. The restructured radio mix is a big improvement over the album version, the Ron G (Mary J Blige, Naughty By Nature) produced mixes add a welcome funk element and the "Bounce Rock Remix" takes it all into new territory with (hilarious to me) ragga input from Junior Dangerous. All very good. Only the dance versions at the end falter a little. The Booker T production may best be described as "functional" but I suppose DJs can always edit out the bits they don't like as they do run to nearly 10 minutes each. Overall though, I'm happy to say that TRUCE seem to be improving with each release.
