Listening to this album of contemplative worship from the famed community, it soon became apparent that this collection of songs shouldn't be judged as individual melodies, but as a collective piece that, given the chance, can be a vehicle for a deep spiritual experience. The 16 new songs on 'Christe Lux Mundi' are all based on simple choral refrains that take the participants on a prayerful and contemplative journey. The key thing that sets this CD apart from other choral or reflective pieces of music is that it is meant to be participated in and not just listened to. This is a powerful and evocative body of work with fine harmonies and arrangements that achieves its goal of drawing the participant deep into God. Far better than some of the 'cover version' CDs of Taize songs on the market.
