This is the debut album by American sisters Tal and Acacia. These sisters began songwriting and guitar playing as teenagers and are now in their twenties. According to their label, this debut album aims to "wake listeners and refresh the soul like a cold splash of water". Although admirable, I am not quite sure if 'Wake Me' has met this aim. There are some stand out tracks like "Top Priority", "Clearview" and the haunting "Warrior Child". However, their quirky style is seen in tracks "Merry Go Round" and "Walking Your Dog" and I just wander if they're just a little too quirky on this album. After listening repeatedly I feel that although this album, produced by Monroe Jones (Third Day, Chris Rice) has some great tracks and the vocal style of both sisters are very commercial in Norah Jones, Imogen Heap style, in truth 'Wake Me' doesn't quite hold together. Maybe their next album will produce the consistency that truly will bring the promised refreshment.
