Recorded a couple of years ago when angst ridden female singers were all the rage and now freshly available on import from Australia, Tanya Gordon's five track EP makes for interesting listening because quite frankly im a sucker for this sort of stuff! It all opens with the runaway guitar charged "Brain" which is kind of a modern interpretation of having your mind renewed when you come to know Jesus except it's more cleverly expressed. "Don't Tell Me' is mellower (but only slightly!) but there's still a wall of guitar underpinning Tanya's vocals and again thematically this is clever with Tanya becoming the voice of God trying to reach someone who s rejecting everything. "Hush" is a rebellious message that rails against the voices that want Tanya to be quiet about her faith. 'With Me Again" is more airy production-wise and lets Tanya's voice float and soar, whilst "Neanderthal" has more of a rock groove. Tanya Gordon writes clever songs and delivers them with such an energy that it's impossible not to get drawn in. This is intelligent, poetic writing with something to say against a pile of guitars! Groovy Baby!
