The album title is intriguing isn't it? How many of us settle for OK when God has got so much more for us? It's been a while since The Afters had new music out. Their 2005 breakthrough album featured the huge American hit "Beautiful Love". But it's been quiet of late while the boys worked away at this follow up. I can report that the work has paid off! This group of Texans still have all the skills in place to bundle together a pile of catchy yet moving songs. At one extreme, there is the immediacy of the stupidly catchy "Myspace Girl" whilst the blink-and-you'll-miss-it short, snappy opener "The Secret Parade" seems to be channelling late period Beatles. The more mellow "Ocean Wide" is another highlight showing that the band are more than capable of creating atmosphere and emotion with their music. I love the title cut with its raucous guitars and it's packed with so many hooks! The results are a band still making music that radio programmers will love to play and music lovers will struggle to get the CD out of their players once it's installed in there! A hit! A palpable hit! Pop/rock rarely comes more powerful than this!

Product Description
With 'Never Going Back To OK' The Afters deliver an ingeniously-crafted commercial record that will make people stand up and pay attention. From the up-tempo infectious encouragement of the title track to the raw contemplative honesty of 'One Moment Away', 'Never Going Back To OK' delivers the promise shown by their debut album, 'I Wish We All Could Win'.
“We have never been as excited about new songs as we are about the ones on this album. We truly believe it’s the best music we’ve ever made. There’s definitely a lot of dynamics… the rock songs rock harder than anything we’ve done and there are some quiet ballads with piano and strings. The songs are honest and come from the good and bad experiences that we’ve had over the last couple of years and the ways that we’ve seen God work through them. The title of the album is about never being content with where you are, but always striving to become more and making the most of the one life that we’re given.” The Afters.
