This box set contains three albums, with three distinctive sleeve colours, that have all received very good reviews here at Cross Rhythms. The blue one is Texas-based rock quartet The Afters' debut album 'I Wish We All Could Win'. This features "Beautiful Love", a track that was inspired by a humanitarian aid trip and has appeared on MTV. Chris Tozer summarised this album well as a "Sermon on the Mount for the 21st century". The green one is MercyMe's album from 2002 'Spoken For'. Even though it is not their best, it is - in Tony Cummings words - a "beautifully crafted" and "intelligent" set of worship songs. For me the standout was the rousing call to evangelism "Go". The red one is Sonicflood's 'This Generation' which again though not their best is "hugely proficient". The title track is a call to this generation to worship God but my favourite is "Everlasting" - which beckons us to trust no matter what happens to us. Finally, the Sonicflood album includes a bonus CD-ROM with an interesting video of the band performing "Cry Holy" and scenes of Rick Heil backpacking across India promoting overseas missions. In conclusion, if you want to investigate the current state of Nashville pop rock then this box set could be for you.
