Steve Hall is a bit of a dude. Before becoming a Christian he did pretty well playing in punk bands and recording a respectable number of albums with decent sales and good touring opportunities. Salvation and delivery from a drug habit opened doors to more than a decade's worth of prison ministry until God led him to start reaching out to youth. The DIY philosophy works well in a new millennium dance setting and this debut EP features four songs that his outfit Called have used in a live setting. His total passion for ministry is to be applauded and these four tracks give an indication that he has plenty to offer. In fact one track from this CD has already been tantalising ears on Cross Rhythms radio and appeared on a previous The Experience sampler with this mag. It's "No Fear" where Steve Hall does his best Bob Marley! Interestingly "Press On" also has a bit of a reggae feel to it and works well. As for checking out his music, it's "Alpha Omega" which is featured on the CD that accompanies this magazine and as you'll find out when you hear it, Called have creativity and this debut is a good solid start.
