Originating out of a grassroots, local worship movement, The Church Vessel is part of The Church International series of church plants in Los Angeles. Picked up by Dream Worship, this eight-song mini-album is a passionate heart-cry for closeness to God and for his Spirit to re-ignite peoples' lives. Though it stays close to the electronic, contemporary stylings of much of modern worship, what separates 'Rekindle' from the others is its more intimate, organic feel. The bright and breezy "Rekindle" backed by a skittly beat is a plea for the fire of God to fall. "Draw Near" is a slower ballad of dedication and consecration. "Beckon", with its sparse piano and cello, sees God calling us closer. "The Difference" is a soulful declaration of praise. Vocals are excellent throughout, most cuts ending in a swell of blended praise - the only slight quibble is the repetitive nature of some of these. A project that leaves the listener impacted and longing for more.
