If you are of a certain age you will instantly recognise the Chicago trio's "Best Of My Love", surely one of the best soul/disco recordings ever made. That classic, penned by Earth, Wind & Fire's Maurice White and Al McKay, is just one of a series of fine tracks on this two-CD set which traces the group's career from their early recordings for the tiny Twin Stacks label through to their hits with Stax/Volt (often produced by Isaac Hayes & David Porter) and the gems recorded with the late Maurice White. There are excellent sleevenotes on this nicely put together package and although I would have preferred one or two of their explicitly gospel tracks, there's no denying that slickly produced gems like "So I Can Love You" and "Boogie Wonderland" demonstrate that the Hutchinson sisters were a class act.
