There is a long tradition in country and Southern gospel for family groups and long may it continue. Now, thanks to the unexpected European interest in the Gaithers and all things Southern, Authentic Media are giving the Hoskins Family their first UK release. Unfortunately, it hardly seems worth the effort. The ballads, like the "Safe Thus Far" opener, are produced with such hand wringing melodrama that even Angie Hoskins Aldridge's impressive pipes can't save them, while many of the songs are dull. By the time a squeaky voiced Abby Aldridge comes on for the "God Gave You To Me" closer to duet with her mum, most discerning music lovers will have long departed. The sleevenote eulogies tell us that Wayne Haun is "the greatest producer in the world." One shudders to think what a lesser talent would have done with this group.

Safe Thus Far, is the most beautiful song and sang so
wonderfully well. I heard it on Joy FM radio but didn't
know the singers. Now that I know it is the Hoskins Family;
I have ordered a CD plus the DVD of them and the Crabb
Family fest. Thank you
