This album is a compilation of hymns from Kingsway's 'Hymnmakers' series in the best tradition of Songs Of Praise. Large choirs accompanied by orchestra and/or organ emphasises the majesty of the great hymns. These include "Tell Out My Soul", "And Can It Be", "O For A Thousand Tongues" and many more favourites which require neither introduction or additional recommendation. There is even a contemporary setting of "I Will Sing The Wondrous Story" which should satisfy all tastes. From the poetry of the lyrics to the superlative harmonies these hymns all speak for themselves. As an example of the value of hymns, now so often dismissed as "old fashioned", this album may be a change to 18 repetitions of the latest chorus. If you're a bit jaded with choruses take the opportunity to rediscover some of the sacred music which has stood the Church in good stead throughout the last three centuries and looks set to go on for a while yet!
