These days with the prominence of LCGC, it's easy to forget in the early '80s that The Inspirational Choir Of The Pentecostal First Born Church Of The Living God were the ones making the most sanctified noise! An early single for Stiff Records and a collaboration with Madness on "Wings Of A Dove" put them on the map. This three song 12 inch single, released in 1985, gives you a rollicking six minute foot stomping "I've Got A Feeling", a song penned by gospel matriarch Albertina Walker. The Choir's version simply shows what a wonderful sound a well drilled gospel ensemble can create! The call and response of "Jesus Dropped The Charges" also sees the choir letting their hair down and celebrating while "Right There" has more of a '70s funk feel, a sound that was beginning to permeate through some choirs in the British church in the '80s even if some of the elders were still objecting. Not all The Inspirational Choir's work is of this high standard, producers tried bringing in too many inspirational pop elements on some of their tracks. But this is a fine trio of songs.
