Bluegrass really, mostly hot and furious pickin' by a comparatively young five-piece band. Recorded in 1983, the sound is as crisp and upfront as you could wish for, with each instrument clear as a bell, and needle-sharp vocal harmonies. The music leans heavily on traditional bluegrass roots, as opposed to the jazz, rock and country variations of such as David Grisman. The high, lonesome sound of Bill Monroe is clearly a great influence. Outstanding tracks include JD Miller's "Wild And Wicked World" and Carter Stanley's "Let's Part The Best Of Friends". Gospel fare features Roy Acuff's "I'm Dying A Sinner's Death" and Bill Monroe's dynamic "Get Down On Your Knees And Pray". Excellent example of a highly skilled style of music.
