These Kingsmen are, of course, the seminal Southern gospel harmonisers, not the "Louie Louie" band. There are two or three live recordings on this compilation and they obviously go down a storm on some of their personal appearances. The 11 tracks are mainly songs new to me and they include some good songs such as "Saints Will Arise" which gets the album off to a good start. Having said that, their sound is quite dated and I couldn't really get excited about some of the ways they sang their songs, ie, they have one very high pitched singer who actually takes the part of a woman on one track, which may be okay on a live show but grates appallingly on a CD!. No doubt long time fans of Southern gospel will appreciate this trawl through the archives but in truth time has not been kind to The Kingsmen.
