Some Brentwood Music albums have been given less than flattering reviews in the pages of this magazine. Here the Brentwood boys head south of the border for some Latin fiesta style instrumental versions of their favourite hymns. Described as "reminiscent of The Tijuana Brass and The Miami Sound Machine" this is a really fun album, excellent brass and energetic Latin rhythms. No credits on the sleeve except for production and artwork so we don't know who the musicians are. The brass is 'live', which I assume means real instruments were used, but the accompaniment sounds rather mechanical which is a shame as this would have made a wonderful completely live project. Not being well up on hymns myself I found some of the melodies a bit hard to follow in the jazzier arrangements but then it's not meant to be a sing-along - more of a carnival-style swing-along - so pass round the maraccas and let's have "All Hail The Power" one more time!

I love all the instrumental and please tell me if I can get more of this kind of brassy hymns.
