This must go down as the most amazing, value-for-money release for many a month. Despite the cover proclaiming 28 tracks with over 69 minutes playing time, it is actually f29u tracks and all selling for £2.99! it does raise questions about some other CDs - why are some so expensive? (Probably has something to do with 'meat packing' budget-line labels like Tring not paying artist royalties beyond a one off licensing fee' from the source company. Ed) In various combinations the Oak Ridge Boys have been going for about 40 years, for ages bastions of Southern gospel. It was only in the mid/late 70s that they ever ventured into secular country and hit major paydirt. Pictured on the cover of this CD is the group that came to Britain for the Wembley Country Fest, but the music here is from an earlier era...and an earlier personnel (good ol' Tring). Competent Southern gospel/country gospel but obviously with none of the gloss of their secular country hits. I know this line up has now changed. It's pleasant enough and a real snip to be able to buy 29 tracks on a CD (no tape). Available from a high street store or a garage near you!
