Nelson Word's timing could not have been worse in releasing their questionable Intersound item by "The Original Edwin Hawkins Singers" which stems from a live concert in Berkeley in 1992 but could fool many a bookshop browser into thinking they were buying THE "Oh Happy Day". No sooner do Nelson Word get their item out (which is very routine, featuring some dull new songs and a quite dreadful and thankfully perfunctory version of said classic with Edwin Hawkins and Shirley Miller singing lead) when reissue specialists Castle Communications put out a 15-song drag through the archives of Buddah Records by BBC Radio Two's Paul Jones. So get THAT 'Oh Happy Day' album released into the mainstream on Sequel Records and forget this weak imitator.
