The Plimsouls are, in case you dind't read the article in CR 45, the band that Peter Case used to front. The man has been a busy boy lately - this album and "Full Service No Waiting" were released within weeks of each other. This is their reunion album, and as such it has to be said it suffers from a syndrome common to many reunion projects. Age has taken its toll and the guys appear to have mellowed somewhat since their early days as a garage rock outfit. This album is perfectly good on its own terms, but it is pitched far closer to Peter's own "Six Pack Of Love" in style than what I would call garage rock, although "Not Of This World" does crib a certain famous Kinks riff. The album ambitiously (or ironically?) states on the back "This Record Could Change Your Life", but I can't really see that happening. It's a good record, but hardly an epiphany!
