The Postman is the pop star pseudonym of Chris Matthewman, a schools worker living in South Wales. All the songs here have been performed live in about 170 Welsh schools as well as various Kids Clubs and events and all are “parables and Bible stories set to fun and funky music, mostly aimed at children in the five to 11 bracket.” Indeed, the programming is pretty funky and the three ladies who provide the vocals do a pretty good job too while The Postman raps with exuberance, a bit like Andy Hawthorne, on ditties like “Don’t Build Your House On The Sand” and “Joshua And The Walls Of Jericho”. All in all, great fun and miles better than those appalling American kids albums the Christian record companies keep inflicting on us.
