Chris Matthewman is a children's worker based in South Wales who has won a place in the heart of certain residents at Cross Rhythms Towers through his ability to create fun children's songs, notably the brilliantly manic dance tune "I've Lost My Sheep". Proving that The Postman always knocks twice, this includes some of his best songs re-mixed for greater audio pleasure. I know these songs that tell Bible stories are meant to be for kids but somehow The Postman pushes the envelope and creates songs that adults can also like. Maybe it's the pastiche of James Brown on "Who's The Daddy" or the American rock mickey-take tribute to that most biblical of animals the "Rock Badger" that brings a smile to the face of adults. Although in the past, the recorded delivery might not have been up to scratch, the production here generally works fine. It's not 2006 state of the art but compared to the majority of kids' CDs released these days, this sounds extremely hi-tech! On the downside, some of this sounds like dated '90s dance sounds but whatever shortcomings are more than compensated by The Postman's unhinged vocal performances. Ironically, they're giving the CD away free but you have to pay for postage.
