With a name like Jon Bon Jella (actually Chris 'The Postman' Matthewman of the schools' work team Pais Project), this was never going to be anything but a pastiche. The song is a powerful and noisy rock anthem celebrating the undistinguished creature of Proverbs 30:26, the rock badger. There are clearly nods in the direction of Bon Jovi and the influence of the B-52s "Rock Lobster" is never far away. It's a happy song to jump about to, and the reminder that we should look for the safety of The Rock is one that has been kicking around since rock music and Christianity first bumped into each other. For your money you also get a ballad, "O Gillian", which features a good deal of screaming and is taken from Mr Matthewman's Edinburgh Fringe comedy production. Not a bad disc, but you can't excuse iffy production values by saying it's for kids.
