If you can imagine All About Eve from the later end of the 1980s, but with all the amps turned up to a Spinal Tap 11, then you will have a rough idea of what The Repercussion and in particular their new single "Euphoria" sound like. Lots of gentle ethereal feminine vocals with a searing guitar and fat rhythm section backing it up (yes, as you can guess, I liked it). This is a well produced track, written as a celebration of creation that really gets under your skin after a few plays. The band claim that this is probably their most accessible recording to date and it bodes well if a new album that they are planning for 2009 is filled with tracks of this quality. The Repercussion definitely have the feel of a band on the up with Becky Rewse's vocals having strengthened immeasurably over time. Here is a band that has improved with age, having come a long way since their humble beginning as a pub covers band. All I can say is the local Dorchester pubs' loss is our gain. With live music seemingly in decline at the moment it is so important that we support young bands like this as they have so much to offer and a great future ahead of them.
