When released in 2006 this album slipped through the Cross Rhythms net. There's a long tradition of talented families performing gospel and that being so this team from Lansing, Michigan will no doubt be around for awhile though whether they'll make it to the Staples, Clarks, Winans stratosphere still remains in doubt. Certainly sisters Camilla, Andrea and Catrice, nieces Crystal, Carman and Tia and nephews Alfred and Ryan make a joyful noise with a sound that neatly straddles traditional and urban sounds. But despite the presence of superstar Kirk Franklin on a couple of tracks and Fred Hammond adding soulful interjections on "Better Than That", there is a lack of truly memorable songs here. The opener "Dance In The Spirit" and the slow and moody "You're Welcome Here" have their moments without completely drawing the listener in. So let's see where the next album takes them.

Product Description
First introduced in 2002 with their debut album Pour Out Your Holy Spirit, the Singletons return to secure their place as the heirs apparent to the next generation of gospel kinship with Better Than That.
From Michigan in the USA, sisters Camilla, Andrea and Catrice, nieces Crystal, Carmen and Tia and nephews Alfred and Ryan compose the octet whose richly layered harmonies caught the eye of Fred Hammond when the various group members toured with Verity labelmate Marvin Sapp. Hammond took them under his wing and the rest has been musical history.
Following the success of their first release the group has retained their signature Gospel sound, combining it with equal parts of jazz and funk to produce the next installment in their collection. With Hammond returning to the controls as executive producer, Better Than That is composed of standout tracks including Your Love Is Better featuring Hammond on guest vocals. First there were the Staples Singers, then the Clark Sisters followed. Reacquaint yourself with the Singletons – the next first family in gospel.
