Southern California's The Way seem to have melded both pop and punk rock together yet somehow have created a unique sound. 'The Fight Is Ours' really shows what a bit of innovation in a genre can accomplish, with a great drum track and a very clear yet still crunchy guitar sound, this album manages to bring a fresh take on the classic punk scene. The only thing the album lacks is strong bass guitar with the musician staying in its own little comfort zone of following root notes and never venturing out. Saying that however, tracks like "Walking Dead" and "Wrong Way" incorporate some classic rock 'n' roll style guitar solos with the manic sound being blasted from the drums and rhythm guitar. The hooks keep coming as songs range from an almost unstoppably fast pace to a slow, solemn yet still punk sound. Diversity in this genre is always welcome and The Way should be applauded for bringing something fresh to the American punk scene.
