A smart move putting the Winans first two Qwest albums back-to-back on a pristine CD. It has to be said they're a little flawed, nothing else on their Qwest debut quite had the blistering power of "Let My People Go" (pulled off as a single for a near-hit) while that wince inducing tribute to Grandma Laura "Special Lady" is still an embarrassment. Also the 'Decisions' album has some production-line-soul feel about it. But Marvin's voice is never less than wonderful, the hooks are crafted by some great songwriters and these albums from '85 and '87 still knock into the also-ran box of most soul albums of the '90s. It's a shame that one track from each album were lopped off this reissue to get the music onto one CD.
