This album, released in 2021, was originally to be called 'Backwards & Forwards' as it contained a mixture of old recordings and some up to date stuff for 2021. Issued when Covid was still going strong and CD sales were plummeting, the album got heard by precious few people which is a shame as it is a fitting tribute to a musician who has served the UK Christian music scene so faithfully for so many years. If you want to look upon the music world where acts playing the biggest festivals, enjoying decent recording budgets and today clocking up streams by the multi-million belong in the Premier League, Wolverhampton-based singer/songwriter Tim didn't get close to promotion. But he did make some pretty good independent recordings and this compilation demonstrates he was an excellent guitarist. He makes a good fist of Paul Field's classic "Thief In The Night" (OK, so it's not up there with Cliff's stunning rendition but considering it was made with a hundredth of Cliff's recording budget it's pretty impressive) and his rendition of Rory Gallagher's "A Million Miles Away" shows he can deliver fluid axe licks every bit as well as the rock star. The weakest tracks are the mid-tempo "Should Have Known Better" which reveals that Tim doesn't have a voice good enough to carry it off while the arrangement is strictly demo quality. But overall, this is well worth investigating, particularly if you've fond memories of him delivering the goods at a church hall somewhere.
