This is Tim Light’s debut album and a showcase of his God-given talent as a songsmith. He’s worship leader at New Life Church, Romsey, where he is also the son of the preacher man. The album has been 18 months in the offing and for an independent label producer Phil Le Cheminant (Glo) has excelled. The CD opens with racy little number called “Come And Fill Me,” which immediately brings Soul Survivor to mind - Tim’s vocal style and musical genre sounds quite similar to the Redman, Hughes, Layzell camp. Co-joined to track two by a “ribitting” frog (which works really well!) both songs set the pace for the rest to follow. The title track “Our God Reigns” is excellent. This track has recently won an international internet-co-ordinated songwriting competition hosted by American worship leader Don Chapman (worshipideas.com). Don told me, “I was blown away by Tim's song. The lyrics are great, the melody's great and I love Tim's voice… you either have it or you don't, and Tim definitely has it!” “Honour You” is another catchy, yet simple song which brings fresh harmonies and a zippy VST-looped backing track.
