This CD has a great classic rock feel to it, in the mould of Bob Seger, Nickleback, Bon Jovi et al, although it does also show up listed as "country rock". (I beg to differ concerning that classification despite some of the album's accompaniments straying into Shania Twain territory.) 'Back Home' strolls on down the freeway at cruise speed and doesn't disappoint. I did worry that the opening lines about being on the road again meant we were set for a whole heap of cliches, but soon the song hit its theme of heading home and, with evocative imagery, living life through a hotel phone. Thematically the CD sticks in that territory: saying goodbye, wanting to go back, driving. There's no flashy solos (not even on the ballad "All For You"), just solid playing underpinning the vocal on the edge of hoarseness (think Bryan Adams - probably the best reference point). This debut EP from a Oklahoma-based muso does rather peter out but there's still quite a bit of good stuff here.
