As anyone who has read the recent Cross Rhythms feature on Los Angeles-born singer/songwriter ToddZero (real name Todd Olivias) will know, the talented all-rounder's latest album is in part a confessional and candid account of the catastrophic effects of past adultery and the domino effect descent into a destructive lifestyle before God's grace saved the day. At first glance, this would suggest an album chock full of maudlin, inward-looking songs but not so in the hands of the talented Mr O. In fact, Todd seems to have it all with a keen production savvy, one of the best pop voices out there and, perhaps most strikingly, an innate ability to put across his point with poetic and intelligent lyrics - all of which make for an outstanding and thoroughly enthralling piece of art that reaches out to the listener. With an overriding electronica feel to proceedings, Todd bravely and creatively tells of the consequences of his past adultery and other reckless decisions in the likes of "I Knew That I'd Get Caught" and the self-explanatory "My Best Friend Wants To Kill Me" whilst the transparently honest "Sorry Is A Stupid Word" sums up the hurt and pain he has caused to his nearest and dearest. Thankfully, Todd also tells of his remarkable redemption through Christ in the triumphant "Glory Glory Glory" and the more contemplative "The End Of The World" in an album that acknowledges the scars that will always be there - hopefully not reopening old wounds in the process - with the steadfast hope that none of us are beyond saving.
