Before we get to the actual review, grab a full length mirror and do this little exercise. Stand with your elbows bent and your hands in front of you, now raise your arms a little and start rotating your shoulders so that your hands move as well. Done that? Well, you've just completed Bogling For Beginners, Lesson 1. Keep it in mind. While I don't know a great deal about Tony, my guess is that he's been involved in reggae a long time, as the album's produced by Sydney Crooks, who used to be in one of the legendary Trojan reggae groups, the Pioneers (I only know this because my dad used to buy their records. I'm not that old - honest!). Most of Side 1 is old school, rootsy reggae, some of which doesn't quite hit the mark. On Side 2, he gets as close to ragga as he can without going into it completely, as well as on the opening track and the "Religious Medley" that closes Side 1 (although whether "Old Man River" can be called a religious song is debatable). If reggae's your thing, get it and remember that bogling lesson.
