The first thing that strikes you on 'The Tillman' EP is the consistent and high level of production. While production isn't everything, when it's mixed with Tony's rapid-syllable flow and thought provoking lyrics, it's a blistering combination. "Tailored" glides along with a mellow background mixed with an electronic buzz. Tillman rolls alongside the soulful vocals of Beckah Shae in an inspiring message about how God has tailor made each of us uniquely. (Note, the video for the song is equally powerful.) "Hourglass" featuring Tedashii, Chad Jones and Rio is a smoother, laid back number with a dark bass twisting in, encouraging to make the most of our days while "Psycho" sees the rapper holding forth over a pulsating southern break before handing over to Canon then back to Tillman. The acoustic mix of "Heaven", with a beautiful vocal from Jordan Love, is a master class in gentle, rolling hip-hop as the evil of this world is contrasted to the perfection, peace and hope of being with Christ in Heaven. This works as a perfect foil to the old skool uplifting groove of the regular mix of "Heaven", which features the great Sho Baraka.
