Building on her EP release of 2013, Cheshire-based Trace has honed her work to display her unique style. She has a band here so is able to give us a robust backing, unafraid to go for an all-out rock beat or an electro dance sound. The way she bunches her lyrics together is often folky, yet she has a sure ear for the pop soundscape. She has co-produced the album herself and done all the graphics, too. Her best asset is her unique voice - gutsy yet sensitive. "Let Live" is an excellent opener, full of life and energy and built on a strong driving bass and drums. The foot-stamping and shouting all add to the excitement. My favourites are "Drops Of Crystal Love"; a musical setting of a beautiful vision she had; "Trust" (Psalm 31), a catchy tune sung with commitment while Theo Elsey's violin weaves in and out; and the title track which is a song of stature about Jesus's sacrifice, ending on a nice guitar riff from Jonathan Price.
