This album from the South Carolina-based singer, songwriter and producer and major gospel star is, as its title suggests, a collection of songs which deal with our brokenness as human beings. Thanks to Greene's ability to succinctly and passionately communicate the redemptive power of God, each song points to the one who accepts us despite our shortcomings and this is therefore a considered but upward-looking piece of work from the experienced artist. Live tracks pepper the studio work to keep energy levels up whilst his sizeable team ensures that this is a highly polished affair with big sounds, tender acoustic moments, rich female backing vocals and Greene's own soulful vocal delivery allowing his material to be presented in the best light. Greene borrows from a number of musical influences ranging from "No One Else" which has a characteristic Avicii-style electronica switch midway through whilst "Won't Let Go" has a hint of Timbaland. But ultimately each song unequivocally belongs to Greene thanks to the genuineness of his songwriting and the honesty and vulnerability of his performance. A cameo from Bethel Music's Steffany Gretzinger on "Good & Loved" adds further class and a bit of a pop vibe to the proceedings and this is a good, if not brilliant, set.
