Recorded at studios in Stockholm and Sutton Coldfield, this 2016 album features the expressive voice of Annika Scutt on a set of songs penned by the band's Calvin Hollingworth, and very impressive it is too. The billowing soundscapes Treasure Field create are evocative, the lyrics are first rate and even the artwork on the sleeve is high quality. For me the outstanding track is "All These Things", a highly imaginative and indeed poetic description of God's gift of love: "It's a hurricane, it's a roller coaster ride/It's a candle flame, that glows on the inside/ It's the power to change and rearrange a heart/ It's a breaking wave upon the shore/ It's an open hand, it's an open door/ It's the power to live and give yourself away." There are other telling songs, skilfully executed by these masterly musicians - "Fairytale" is a narrative song telling the tale of a rock star ("Not all that glitters turns to gold/First you're bought and then you're sold") while "Burn" is a heartfelt prayer to be set free of our sin and self-obsession. As with me, maybe a few years will pass before you discover 'The Singing City'. But I recommend that you make the effort.
