As fans will know, Tricia is the lead singer of CCM hitmakers Superchick. I was expecting well crafted mature pop songs with thought provoking lyrics and I wasn't disappointed, but there is much more to this album. It is in fact a worship project but one which thankfully eschews the stereotypical sounds of many modern worship releases. Tricia had felt called to write worship(ful) music for years, since before Superchick but has only now got down to releasing an album of her songs. Around the time of the recording of 'The Road' Tricia went through a really tough time (which she talks about on her Facebook page). This means that the music here instead of being mostly anthemic declarations of love is far more introspective, thought provoking and incredibly powerful. There are celebratory times on here, and it's definitely full of praise, but it's more often reflective and quietly intense; and when she sings lines like "Oh my God, he will not delay/My refuge and strength always", you know that she knows the truth of it and stands by it. Some of these songs may well get used in congregational worship but their full potency will only ever be conveyed on this album. Called 'The Road' because Tricia fully understands she's on a journey, this set rings loud and clear.

Product Description
Featuring the lead singer of the best-selling Grammy nominated band Superchick, The Road is a distinctive-sounding worship album that blends together original, traditional, and contemporary songs to inspire, challenge and move you closer to God.
“These are songs that have lead me into worship through times when I have felt abandoned, broken, angry and confused and taught me that the best place to worship God is when life doesn’t make sense and it isn’t easy to believe. I pray The Road is a new, fresh approach to worship and that it brings the growth and healing to you that it’s brought me making it.” -Tricia Brock.
Includes the singles: You Hear, Breath Of God, and You Are My Shepherd.
