What stands out in this album is the variety. The Atlanta-based diva moves effortlessly from gospel to hip-hop, soul to slow ballads and with a little jazz in between, like on the cool and live "He Lives". Apart from genre there's a variety of tone - from the uptempo and very scriptural track "Cheer Up", which should get many audiences and congregations hopping, to the soulful and prayerful ballads like "Because Of You". Redemption is obviously the central theme of the album and the song "Redeemed" captures the concept well, though I'm not convinced the song is entirely well served by the electronic music and effects. "Jesus Praise" is has a catchy rap groove, with an urban sound that reminded me of Mary Mary. Faith commitment comes across strongly in the songs, nowhere more strongly in the very personal "Remember Me". Most danceable track is "Love", which, apart from the thumping rhythm, has an important message and fine lyrics, some from St Paul's reflections on love. My favourite track though is "Here I Am" - an emotional prayer song with a gorgeous melody and striking musical backing.
