Manchester-based trio Twelve24's EP 'Better Words' is aimed directly at teenagers with its faith-filled lyrics which tackle common issues (appearance, sex, personal identity) and upbeat urban rhythms. Rap lyrics, vocal breaks, sensitive sampling and a keen synth all help keep the EP flowing fluently from beginning to end. Interestingly from first track "It's OK", the tempo decelerates steadily towards the concluding track "The Answer" as the lyrics become ever more contemplative. For parents concerned about track title "The Sex Song" they can rest assured that the song intelligently dismantles current misconceptions regarding sex in the media and peer pressure on teens. 'Better Words' marks a promising debut for a group apparently doing great work in Manchester schools.
