Starting where its predecessor left off, the second volume of songs from the Tylko Jezus project offer up a high quality selection of Polish-sung worship pieces written by husband and wife team Mariusz and Grazyna Śmiałek. Once again providing his sizeable production skills is Poland-born, Dundee-based multi-instrumentalist Mirek Hodun who succeeds in making this a fresh batch of songs that communicate the titular "Only Jesus" theme regardless of the obvious language barrier. What makes this album work is the variety of styles that have been employed from the Latin-tinged "Tęsknię za Tobą" to the rock-flavoured "Nikt I Nic" whilst all involved make sure indigenous roots are referenced in the likes of "Figowiec" and "Jeden jest Pan" - the latter juxtaposed against a great imported Bo Diddley beat. Mariusz and a host of other singers give impassioned performances which, along with Mirek's star turns on accordion and other instruments with some help from others, help to make this yet another uplifting, stirring and infectiously joyful collection of praise songs with a difference.
